Thanks for visiting.

Welcome to the website of Julia Deakin, poet - sometimes flatteringly confused with Julia Deakin the actor.

Widely published, my poems have won many competitions - including the 2006 Northern Exposure Prize, the 2007 Poetry Business Pamphlet Competition, the Torriano 2011, The Lippfest 2011, the Yorkshire Open 2011, the Lightship International 2012, and many others.

I love giving readings, have read on Poetry Please, for community radio stations www.radiowildfire.com and www.chapelfm.co.uk, and at numerous festivals.

If you are looking for poems, poetry performance, workshop facilitation and poetic projects of all kinds, read on.

Buy Julia's full length collections Eleven Wonders (2012) and Without a Dog (2008). Buy Julia's Poetry Buisness Pamphlet Half-Mile- High Club.

Please spread the word about Julia's imminent book launch (Event 169 in Ilkley Festival Programme):

See off insomnia in style as Julia premieres her mesmeric new collection Sleepless with scintillating blues guitar from Richard Townend. An outstanding 90-minute programme from two superb practitioners. Free entertainment doesn't get better than this.

SAVE THE DATE Thursday 11th October, 9-10.30 p.m.
Ilkley Playhouse Wildman Theatre LS29 8DW

It's FREE, unticketed (just turn up) - and all poetry and music lovers, friends and acquaintances are cordially invited.
